Stuff You Might Like
Welcome to a place where anything goes (mostly), I'll be updating daily and posting ,well, stuff you might like. Read it for a day, check it out, spread the word, and email me for requests and ideas for me. I'm gonna check out comment sections daily for stuff posted so feel free. Enjoy the ride.
We've arranged a civilization in which most crucial elements profoundly depend on science and technology. We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.

Too Long
Sorry it's been so long since my last entry guys, I've been pretty busy. Anyways here's a cool story that you can take an opinion on. This guy claims to have discovered alien life form fossils in meteorites that he has found. This is really cool, except his paper is being scrutinized by hundreds of researchers right now because he has made claims to this before that didn't pan out. This could be an amazing discovery if it is real however because it would point to actual life in the Universe other than that on Earth. Assuming that this is actually real, what steps should we take next? Is the search for life in space worth the expense? Will we ever know if we share the possibly even the galaxy with other life? Leave opinions in the comments guys.

Killing Time
Today, I have a new CD by Bayside called Killing Time. Bayside is an alternative-rock band from Queens, New York that has been together since the winter of 2000. Following the lead of their last album, Shudder, Killing Time seems to focus more on the musicality that Anthony tries to inject into the songs. One example of this is in the track, Seeing Sound, beginning with a well structured chord pattern and then moving into Anthony's lyrics that are constantly getting more apathetic, which actually keeps them interesting. Although, this can also be attributed to the sense of cynical ideas that are found throughout the CD. They keep the guitar parts fresh and the drummer continues to impress, especially live. I saw them recently live, and he was really into what he was doing, but just watching him playing was insane because of how perfect his patterns were. Anthony was great live as well, because he was having a lot of fun and didn't mind repeating choruses for the audience to sing.If you would like them with a sort of harder sound, you can try one of their earlier ablums too. The Walking Wounded is excellent, with insane guitar melodies, great lyrics, and really catchy tunes.

Got a new Android phone in the last 2 years?
Alright, so its known that Android is becoming more mainstream recently and that it is beginiing to level the playing field with iOS, but how come you still can't tether your internet, or install that app you wanted? How come if your phone dies and all of your data wasn't saved to your SD card, you lose everything you had on that phone? What if you got a Droid X, Droid 2, Droid Incredible, or other phone by Samsung. Motorola, or HTC and you don't like their subpar attempts at fixing the UI? Well the first step to that is rooting your Android device, which can be accomplished in different ways. Originally, anyone who wanted to root had to follow multi-step instructions and push instructions to their device, but with the help of many devs we are now able to perform one-click rooting. z4root does this very well, just follow the link in this post, download the .apk and place it on your SD card, then Android should prompt to install. You may have to tweak your phone a bit during the process, so read through the forum as well for help or email me back here and I can probably find you help. After you have finished you will be able to use Wireless Tethering for sharing your data connection with your laptop or computer, Titanium Backup to make complete backups of your phone, and ROM Manager for installing ROMs and custom themes. As for getting rid of that TouchWiz, HTC Sense or Motoblur, you will have to look into custom ROMs for your phone. Some examples of these if you want to research are Darkslide for Droid X, Cyanogenmod 7 for many phones, and Sapphire for Droid. Also check ROMs for version number as FroYo ROMs are being updated with Gingerbread ROMs based on Android 2.3.

Swing a song?
First things first, I really hate some mainstream music. Yeah, that's right I didn't say all because some genres have some cool stuff going right now, but why not check out something cool that's different right? Well, you might already like this if you're into great melody lines, thought provoking lyrics that keep things interesting, elements of jazz and fusion from other genres including rock, country, and ska, or just whatever. This is this band's first album out commercially and it's pretty sick and while it brings elements of all different music, it stays within its boundaries and knows how far to feel for those things. This is well kept and the fusion never becomes overbearing such as 5 minute jazz improv solos and other obnoxious stuff that is typical of this kind of album. Anyway, they are all talented musicians in this band, Nonsense Syllables, and the soloing and trading is kept fresh through each song without any repetition; it has good chord structure, and clean recording throughout. "Winter of Reform" on the album is great to hear because the singer, Kevin Miller, originally wrote that for his own album Before It Gets Dark. Hearing this take of it with actual horn parts and new twists is nice. You can also find him on Bandcamp and Facebook. So go to their Bandcamp and listen to the cd its great and if you like it, contact them for a copy.

Let's Start
Alright, so this being my first post I guess I'll explain what I want for this blog. I think that people have grown more ignorant of events in the world, scientific breakthroughs, and even basic technological advances, but this shouldn't really happen especially with the connection that the internet gives all of us around the world. And yes I can agree that these are boring because not all of the cool stuff makes it into the limelight. I'm hoping I can help fix this problem and maybe expose everybody to something fresh every day. Secondly, I'm all for people asking questions on really anything they want to know about; ex. "Oh god how do i unbrick my phone its dead OH NOEZZ" or maybe something more like "how do I make this work/fix this/do this/?" so get to me through comments or email and my next post can be about that. Come here and see something new, lie back and hear some great music, check out some crazy videos, and find some sick gadgets. Thanks for reading and follow me, I'll follow back, also any site suggestions can go to brassman1990@gmail.com.
